Christmas Sessions open on the 1st August for booking...

If you've joined me for Christmas sessions before, you might notice that things are looking a little different this year, and before Christmas bookings open next week, I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes update and explain why.

Many of you will know that this is my first Christmas season in my brand new purpose-built studio.

It's a space I've dreamed about for years and has completely transformed the way I photograph newborns, babies and families this year. I genuinely don't think I could love it more if I tried.

However, as I started planning Christmas, I quickly realised that the new studio works very differently to my old garden studio.

Those of you who have visited me over the years will remember that I was able to have multiple Christmas sets set up around the room at the same time. The way the light worked in that space allowed me to move freely between different scenes throughout your session, meaning many families enjoyed photographs across four different Christmas setups.

The new studio is designed completely differently and, whilst the light is absolutely beautiful, it has one main shooting area rather than multiple usable photography spaces.

In simple terms, I can no longer photograph around the entire room in the same way I could before.

After lots of planning (and perhaps a little overthinking!), I realised I needed to approach Christmas differently this year.

So for 2026, rather than having every Christmas set available every day, each Christmas theme will have its own dedicated dates.

Every session will still include:

✨ One of my main Christmas sets that many of you already know and love — you'll simply choose your favourite when booking

✨ A second festive scene (The Christmas Window)

The sessions will feel a little different to previous years, but my aim remains exactly the same: to create beautiful Christmas photographs that capture this special season for your family.

You'll also notice that Christmas sessions are returning to being proper mini sessions this year.

If you've been with me before, you'll know that my "mini sessions" had a habit of becoming not-so-mini! With multiple sets available, outfit changes and lots of festive chatting, many sessions ended up lasting far longer than originally planned.

This year, because you'll be enjoying one main Christmas set alongside the Christmas Window Scene, I simply don't feel that a full hour is needed. We can create a beautiful gallery, capture family photographs, sibling photographs and individual portraits without spending an hour moving between different backdrops.

I wanted to share this update before bookings open so nobody is surprised when they see the new format next week.

The good news?

I genuinely believe this approach will allow me to create even stronger Christmas images than ever before. My new studio gives me the most beautiful light I've ever worked with, and I'm so excited for you to see what I've been planning.

Christmas sessions will officially open for booking on 1st August, and over the next week I'll be sharing little sneak peeks of what's to come.

I cannot wait to celebrate Christmas with you all again this year.

Love always,

Emily x
