Another Year 0f Christmas..
As the holiday season comes to a close and we bid farewell to another year, I find myself filled with gratitude and joy as I reflect on the incredible experience I had during my Christmas photo sessions. This year, I welcomed over 70 families to my little back garden studio, capturing the magic of the season through their smiles and laughter.
It was such a delight to meet hundreds of wonderful people and see all the adorable little ones dressed in their festive outfits and cosy Christmas pyjamas.
Each session was a unique celebration with new faces and old faces, and I'm so thankful for every family that chose to share these moments with me. I love seeing what outfits you choose to bring to your session. Sparkling dresses, elf costumes, and even matching family PJs - just perfect! The joy and excitement that filled the studio were truly infectious, making these sessions more than just photo opportunities; they were moments of connection, laughter, and love.
The Set- Ups
This year, I used my four festive backdrops that each told their own story, one weekend complete with a cheerful Santa who added that extra sprinkle of holiday magic. Each setup provided a unique backdrop for the treasured memories we created together, and I loved seeing how each family made their session special. I like to use the same set ups each year so we can see the growth of the children that use them - I ADORE when my clients share a 'previous year' post with their updated Christmas images so for this reason, I don't change my scenes each year - why change something you already love! Next year though my props are in dire need of replacement after some bashing in from toddlers so an overhaul on the props will be happening!
Reflecting and Planning for 2025.
As I reflect on this beautiful holiday season, I want to share some exciting changes I plan to make for my Christmas photo sessions in 2025. While I have truly enjoyed the way I’ve been running these sessions, I’ve come to realise that they have not been the “mini sessions” I originally advertised, which typically last around 20 minutes. The truth is, these joyous occasions deserve more than just a rushed experience.
Those of you who know me well understand that I don’t like to hurry through a photo shoot. Children often need time to warm up, and sometimes parents want a few outfit changes. Putting a time limit on these sessions can add unnecessary stress, making the experience less enjoyable, which is the opposite of what I want to create.
So, for 2025, I’m excited to announce that I will be offering full sessions for a week! This will allow families to enjoy all four backdrops, along with even more props and festive moments. I want you to have the chance to capture all the joy of the season without feeling rushed.
I also recognise that some families prefer shorter sessions, and I'm happy to accommodate that as well. I’ll be hosting one day of mini sessions on a weekend, ensuring options for everyone. I know that for some, a shorter session across two backdrops fits better within their budget and schedule.
These changes come after feeling burnt out for the second year in a row—a gentle reminder for me to prioritise my own wellbeing while still providing you with the best experience possible. By adjusting my approach, I can cater to different preferences: some families love the full experience with plenty of photos, while others simply want a quick and memorable snapshot of the festive season.
I’m genuinely excited about these changes and believe they will help me continue to create joyful memories with you. However, I must also share that this means next year's Christmas sessions will be extremely limited. Instead of 70 sessions, I’ll be offering just 12 full sessions and about 8 mini sessions. I’m already feeling a bit anxious about disappointing so many of you, as I wish I could welcome everyone through my doors.
The booking for these sessions will open at the start of August 2025 with the full sessions being priced at my standard price list and the mini sessions being half the price of these.
